Running reminded Mary too much of her husband, and sometimes she even heard his voice on her morning jog. She couldn’t get over her grief and sank into severe depression.
Mary’s health deteriorated and she became wheelchair-bound under her doctor’s orders.
But old pictures of her husband cheering her on forced her back to her feet. She felt like even if he was no longer with her, he was still cheering for her from wherever he was. That was when she made a promise to herself:
“My age will never stop me from running.”
By that point, Mary had tried everything, from physical therapy to specialist medications but NOTHING WORKED.
